Time Travel? !!HOW TO GUIDE!! posted May 4th 2005, 1:46PM
Mood: Disappointed
All paradox aside, the prime candidate is time dialation. Relativity states that as an object travels faster and faster it experiences a shorter amount of time than an observer at rest. As one approaches the constant of the speed of light 'C' As in E=MC^2, one's experienced time approaches 0, like pressing the pause button. If one could go faster than light, mathematically one would be moving backwards in time, if we take Relativity as Gospel (Im not religious, I just said that to say it). Good luck with that, though, since mass also increases with speed. The reason c is an absolute limit is that anything with any mass at all to start with would end up with an infinite mass, which would take infinite energy to accelerate past c, admittantly, you would be pretty heavy.
It's possible that, at some point, Quantum Mechanics allows us to transport sentient beings into the past.
Time Machine? That wasn't advertised! Go buy your own!
